This summer was a total blur. It went by so fast I feel like I’m still trying to wrap my head around it. Last I left you, Jon was headed up to Glacier for his second season as a raft guide. He’s going to have to get a post together soon, he worked literally non-stop all summer long, so you’ll have to excuse the absence of his voice around here lately. He’s already been back about 3 weeks, and it’s been non-stop motion since the day he arrived.
We went to the Montezuma Land Conservancy’s annual Beer Festival, which benefits the purchase and protection of land in Montezuma County, CO. Now that’s a cause I’ll raise a glass to! It was fun to re-visit the event, which we attended back in 2012. Jon bid on and won a sweet Black Diamond backpack, and we enjoyed a few beers in the name of land conservation. Other than that, we have had our heads down, searching for winter jobs, and I am thrilled to share that we have accepted one that sounds just perfect. Starting in November, we will be kayaking guides in the mangrove tunnels of Florida’s Everglades with Shurr Adventures!
We will be towing our home, Wild Thing, down to Chokoloskee Island Park, where we will be living while we work. It’ll be funny to have our beach-y themed rolling cottage in an actual beach setting for the first time, since it’s only been in the mountains of Montana, and the deserts of California and Utah so far. (Which reminds me, I owe you a post soon to show all the changes we’ve made since last we updated about the camper…)
While it’s always hard to say goodbye to the beautiful red rocks, and friends we have here in Moab and at the park, we are so looking forward to this next adventure!
